The PTO is an organization that provides educational and enriching programs and services for all children at Sherwood School and offers support to teachers and staff. Volunteering for the PTO is an excellent way for parents to become involved in their child’s school and their education. It is also an opportunity to meet new friends and neighbors. There are many ways you can support the PTO—volunteering to help serve lunch on Food Days, joining a committee, working in the IMC, donating time or money. We welcome your involvement in any way you can!
Below are some examples of events and items that the Sherwood PTO has provided in the past:
Our fundraising goal for this year will be to continue to raise money for the remodeling of our gym and upgrading our multi-purpose room.
Membership dues are only $ 20.00 per family. This covers the cost to print the Buzz Book, fees that the PTO incurs, and classroom parties throughout the year. With your PTO membership, you will receive a complimentary copy of the buzz book (normally $ 5.00 per copy).
We encourage you to attend our PTO meetings which alternate between evenings and mornings. A list of those meeting dates and times will be published on our website and in the Sherwood Times (which is distributed every 3 weeks).
Families are also encouraged to attend the variety of fun events we host throughout the year such as Bingo Night, Ice Cream Social, Bagels with a Buddy, Ice Skating Party, Carnival, and Pot Luck Dinner, just to name a few. These events are not only fun but they help raise funds for our school. Information about all of the Sherwood PTO events will be published in the Sherwood Times, posted on the PTO website and communicated via Powerschool emails.
We look forward to a fantastic 2011 – 2012 school year!
